I’ve lost many members of my animal family and have supported 1000s of bereft pet parents. I understand the pain and void it leaves in your life when a pet dies.
Grief can cause a host of physical symptoms like fatigue, tension, exhaustion. It can disrupt your sleep. You might even experience panic attacks.
You may feel shocked, sadness, emptiness, anger, guilt, regret, resentment, loneliness, depression, betrayal or disloyalty. You may find yourself crying unexpectedly, and at times, uncontrollably.
It's hard to focus or concentrate. Or you may experience low motivation. You may also find yourself thinking about others who have died, which can intensify your grief.
The loss of your animal companion can affect your ability to interact with others which can leave you feeling isolated and alone.
You may feel a sense of awe and mystery as you become aware that your animal's spirit never dies; only their physical body or vessel does.
May experience an additional sense of loss give when your pet dies given how much time and love you devoted to caregiving them.
