An Open Letter from your Rescue Pet: Let Go of My Past

A Rescue Pet Speaks Out: Let Go of My Past Trauma

➡️ Note: This post is written from the perspective of a rescue pet, as translated by me. This post is inspired by the insights I’ve gained over the past 25+ years doing 1000s of animal communication sessions with rescue pets and their loving humans.

Do you ever wonder about your rescue animal’s past?

Worried about their life before you rescued them?

Hi, I’m your rescue animal.

I’m so grateful that you love me so much, and I feel your love every day.

I know you sometimes wonder about my past—what I went through before we found each other.

Sometimes, you worry about what I’ve seen or how I was treated, and that’s because you care deeply for my happiness.

I love how much you want to understand me.

But you might not realize that thinking about my past often makes me feel like I’m reliving it, too.

Let Me Show You How I Feel Now

I know you mean well when you think about my past. You want to make sense of why I do certain things or react certain ways.

I can feel your sadness when you imagine what I might have gone through.

It’s okay—I know your heart is in the right place.

But here’s the thing: sometimes the story you’ve created about my past may not be accurate or true.

Every time you worry about my past, I relive it again and again, locking me in a place where I no longer live or want to be, holding onto a story that no longer defines us.

How Animal Communication Helps Us Both

Talking with me with the assistance of an Animal Communicator can be a game-changer when it comes to understanding my past and freeing me from it.

Instead of guessing or assuming what my past was all about, you can simply ask me because I already know the answers.

Hearing my perspective can change the way you view my past.

This new understanding can free us from being tethered to any abuse or trauma, leading me to feeling safe and loved.

A New Story of Us

Imagine how it would feel if someone constantly reminded you of your most difficult experiences or traumas, even when you were trying to move on. That’s what it can be like for me when you think of my past. You might not realize it, but when you dwell on my past, you’re unintentionally reinforcing my trauma—making it harder for me to heal and move on from it.

I’m not suggesting you ignore what I’ve been through or pretend my past never happened. Acknowledging my journey is important, but recognizing that I’m no longer a rescue or adopted pet will help me feel safe and loved because I’m your pet now.

When you can shift your perspective, it allows us to live more peacefully in the present rather than being stuck in old trauma.

Moving Forward Together In Harmony

Once you understand that I have already moved on because I’m now your pet, you can start to do the same.

Instead of seeing me as a victim, I want you to see me as a resilient survivor who’s thriving now. This mindset will help me feel more grounded and secure. It can even reduce my symptoms of stress, anxiety, or PTSD.

Let’s focus on our journey together, not what happened before.

Thank you for rescuing me. You’ve changed my world. Let’s keep moving forward together.
